Mouse through MoonSplatter.

Move the mouse from one side to the other, or pause in the center then whip outside the box. The effect created is a little like the CG blood splatters during the credits for the movie 300.

Or, let the mouse rest someplace inside the box, and see how the particles do or don’t settle out. Adjust the mouse slightly but abruptly from a stable position, and watch ripples fight their way through the pattern. Swirl out in a subtle spiral from mass, occasionally stopping or reversing direction, to see yet another trick, which will play out very differently based upon where in the box it is performed.

Mouse in the top half for slow movement, or in the bottom half for fast movement.

Fudge it a little.

Mouse left-to-right: move the 262,000 points that compose both images.

Mouse top-to-bottom: force fade between the color of each pixel in its opposite position versus its color in its current position.

Result: mousing along the bottom does a full-color pixel relocation “morph” (but it cheats a bit by fading colors), but mousing along the top does the same except with the color morph targets swapped. Top-left and top-right corners reveal each image drawn using the pixel colors as they are intended for their destinations in the opposite image.

The basic image is still visible in the wrong colors because they get matched up between images based on brightness when the images are loaded. Matching computation is also why the program takes a extra time to load.

Moving the mouse corner-to-corner diagonally in either direction preserves pixel colors, highlighting the trick.
