Mouse through MoonSplatter.

MoonSplatter image

Move the mouse from one side to the other, or pause in the center then whip outside the box. The effect created is a little like the CG blood splatters during the credits for the movie 300.

Or, let the mouse rest someplace inside the box, and see how the particles do or don’t settle out. Adjust the mouse slightly but abruptly from a stable position, and watch ripples fight their way through the pattern. Swirl out in a subtle spiral from mass, occasionally stopping or reversing direction, to see yet another trick, which will play out very differently based upon where in the box it is performed.

Try AngelDust28.

By replacing the random transient static of Number28 with continuous life dots, the number of visual possibilities has grown from m² (a 1:1 function of the mouse cursor’s position in space) to an animated and lively one of near unlimited possibility, dependant upon not only instantaneous position, but the history of prior positions, including as a factor slight variations in timing and motion of transition.

I particularly enjoy (1.) that a very subtle change in position here can be the difference between beautiful order and meaningless chaos and (2.) that some of the most interesting patterns here are captured in instable motion (the effect is only repeated when the proper creation gesture is repeated).
